Caring for someone in a care home?

Are you caring for someone who lives in a care home?

Why not come to our peer-led carers group for people who support a partner, relative, or friend living in a care home?

This group is an opportunity to come together with other carers over a cuppa, to chat and share your experiences.

When: Friday 1 December, 11 – 12.30 pm

Where: Hungate Reading Cafe, Ground Floor, Bellerby Court, Hungate, York YO1 7AF

It’s a drop-in group so there’s no need to book.

Young Carers - Christmas Party

LAFFS – Laughs, Advice, Fun, Friendship and Support 

 

Want to have fun, make new friends, meet old friends and get support from the team? Then join our monthly LAFFS.

A typical LAFFS session includes sports, games, creative crafts, baking, Xbox and snacks (we’re always snacking!)

Primary school age young carer sessions run on the first Tuesday of the month.

 

This session we will be joined by Art Practitioner Mim Robson to make Christmas tree decorations to take home and for the York Minster Christmas Tree Festival.

 

When: Tuesday 5 December, 5 – 6.30 pm
Where: Youth Club, Moor Lane Youth Centre, Wain’s Road, Dringhouses, York, YO24 2TX.

Help with transport is currently available on request.

Substance Misuse and Gambling Carer Support Group (Online)

We run monthly support groups for families and friends affected by someone else’s substance misuse and / or gambling.

Volunteer Road Shows

We’re always looking for people to join us as volunteers; helping with Young Carers and Young Adult Carers activities, supporting carers via the Telephone Listening Service, helping at Carer Hubs, raising awareness of our work or administration tasks.

Come and see us at one of our Volunteer Roadshows to find out about volunteering with us.

Mental Health Carers Group

The Mental Health Carers Group is open to anyone who cares for someone with mental ill health.

Make a Christmas Wreath.

This Christmas crafts session will be led by Heather Dawe, a local artist with 20 years + experience in willow crafts and community crafts workshops.

This a free workshop and all materials will be provided.

Come along to make a Christmas wreath to take home and chat to other carers with similar caring responsibilities, who understand the impact your caring responsibilities have on your life.

This group is run in partnership with Rethink Mental Illness York Group.

When: Wednesday 13 December, 7 – 9 pm
