Benefits and care advice

We have Advice and Benefits Workers who can help you claim the benefits and allowances you are entitled to. Contact York Carers Centre on 01904 715490 if you would like to arrange an appointment. You will be offered a telephone appointment at first so that we can asses how best to help.

Benefits

Benefit rules are complex – claim one thing and it affects another, and the rules change almost every other day. Our Benefits Advisor, can help you understand these issues.

York Carers Centre offers advice and support with form-filling and income maximisation. See the attachment section at the bottom for our Benefits for Carers Factsheet.

Council Tax

There are more ways to reduce a council tax bill than people realise – especially for carers.  The process is usually straightforward and our Advice Worker can assist with this.

Housing Benefit

Never out of the news for long – are you a carer or a disabled person affected by the bedroom tax?  Should you really be paying it?  Get in touch with our Advice and Benefits Workers for the latest news and updates.

Social Care

Disabled people, if it appears that they may be in need of services, have a right to an assessment under community care legislation.

So do carers.
