#YorkTalkMoney
The warmer weather might bring welcome respite to our energy bills, but the cost-of-living crisis continues. Here in York, we don’t want to leave anyone out in the cold.
Nationally, purse strings continue to be tight as the next round of means-tested cost-of-living payments are being paid to millions of eligible households. Over the next 12 months, households could receive up to £900 to tackle the cost-of-living crisis.
Yet the Trussell Trust has announced a record take-up of people using food banks – and it’s not surprising as inflation reached 19.1% in March 2023. Households are facing the fastest annual increase in food and drink since 1977.
To support York residents through this worrying time, a partnership of money experts has come together to share advice and information during #YorkTalkMoney from Monday 26 June to Friday 7 July.
Together, we’ll continue to support residents to stay on top of bills and payments, managing debts and safe borrowing, energy advice and help with food. We’re also giving information about free school meals, holiday activities and looking after your health as well as the company and advice available at our Warm Places.
