Group Carer Awareness Training (on Zoom)

Free two hour sessions offering an introduction to York Carers Centre and looking at how anyone in the community can identify and support unpaid carers.

  • It is an opportunity for professionals to learn more about the support available for unpaid carers across the city.
  • Increase understanding of carers, their role and its effect on their lives.
  • Opportunity to explore how professionals working in the health and social care field, or anyone in the community, can help to: identify carers early; recognise them as ‘partners’ in care; help carers to maintain their own health and wellbeing.

The sessions include a presentation from our Volunteer and Training Officer, brief introductions and sharing of information around current carer issues and links to carer films on YouTube.  There is also a chance for discussions and to hear from one of our volunteer carer champions who talks about her experience of caring, and what types of support can help.

Courses run regularly throughout the year, currently on Zoom.
