Marco Conquers Land’s End to John O’Groats – From His Living Room on an Exercise Bike!

Marco Polledri, General Manager at Radfield Home Care, is currently undertaking an extraordinary fundraising challenge to support York Carers Centre.

He is cycling the equivalent distance of Land’s End to John O’ Groats, a daunting 837 miles, with plans to complete the challenge in just 77 days!

Marco started his challenge on Saturday 1 February and aims to finish on Sunday 20 April (Easter Sunday.) Marco will be completing this challenge entirely from his living room, cycling on an exercise bike.

Marco says, “Since joining Radfield Home Care, I’ve seen first-hand the dedication of our care professionals and the daily challenges they face. I’ve also developed a deep appreciation for unpaid carers – those who selflessly care for their loved ones, often without the recognition or support they deserve.

That’s why I’m taking on this challenge for York Carers Centre, an incredible charity that provides free advice and information, emotional support, and advocacy for unpaid carers across York.”

He went on to say, “So far, I can work out on Google Maps I’m just about flying (or perhaps more to the point crawling!) through Birmingham on my virtual map…the last two weeks have seen me do 150 miles, still need to ramp this up to meet the target of finishing on Easter weekend but doing good!”

York Carers Centre CEO Sharron Smith went on to say “We’re so grateful to Marco for taking on this fundraising challenge and choosing to fundraise for York Carers Centre. The money raised will help us to meet the needs of carers through one-to-one support or counselling. These essential services offer coping strategies, reduce stress, and create a supportive environment where carers can openly express their emotions.

Please consider donating whatever you can. Every contribution, no matter the size, will go directly to York Carers Centre and make a meaningful difference in the lives of unpaid carers.”
