LEAD OFFICER FOR ADULT CARERS – 28 hours per week
Salary: £30,060 per annum pro rata

York Carers Centre is an independent charity supporting unpaid carers in York. We aim to enrich and empower carers’ lives by providing the support they so selflessly give to others. We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and organised individual, with a genuine interest in carers, to lead a dedicated team supporting adult carers across York.
With responsibility for the day-to-day management and delivery of a quality Adult Carer Service, the post holder will ensure carers are identified, recognised and have access to a variety of information, advice and support reflecting their individual needs. Working with a range of statutory services the Lead Officer will be responsible for ensuring carers rights, under the Care Act, including delivery of statutory Carers Assessment of Need, Reviews and care planning.
This position requires an effective communicator with drive and enthusiasm, proven leadership skills, management and supervisory experience and a professional confident approach. Working within the boundaries of confidentiality, it will be essential to work effectively and engage sensitively with carers.
The role involves providing monitoring reports to funders, working strategically with professionals from the voluntary and statutory sector; advocating on behalf of carers and engaging carers in opportunities to positively influence change. Alongside a good understanding and awareness of the needs of carers, the successful applicant will have experience of liaising effectively with professionals and engaging with clients in a variety of service delivery settings.
We are looking for an individual who can work under pressure and prioritise and manage own workload and that of the Adult Carer team with minimum supervision and take appropriate action according to policies and procedures, including safeguarding, and trauma informed practice guidelines.
