It’s a time to focus on your own wellbeing, connect with others who share similar experiences, and take part in gentle activities.
Please note: the group now meets on the last Tuesday of each month (previously the last Wednesday.)

We run two monthly support groups for unpaid carers in York, providing a space to connect, share experiences, and receive peer support from others who understand your situation.
Our Carer Support Workers and volunteers facilitate these groups and are on hand to discuss any concerns, challenges and successes related to your caring role.
We welcome any carers to the groups; if you are not registered with us, you can register during the group.
When: Wednesday 26 March, 1 – 2.30 pm

Join us for peer support and social activities designed for Young Adult Carers, held at Spark on the last Wednesday of the month. These groups are open to carers aged 18 – 25, though we welcome and encourage carers aged 16+ to join in.
Take a well-deserved break from your caring role, connect with other young people who share similar experiences, enjoy good food, and unwind in a relaxed atmosphere.
Food is available from Spark’s Street Food Vendors between 5 – 6:30 pm, followed by an activity from 6:30 to 8 pm.
We’ll be at the tables in the back starting at 5 pm, and then move into the ‘co-working space’ at 6:30 pm.
Feel free to drop by anytime and stay as long as you like. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Youth Clubs
Our youth clubs are just for young carers (aged 5 – 16 years). We have separate groups – primary and secondary – so that young carers of the same age can be together.
The youth clubs give young carers a break and a chance to spend time with other young people who live in similar circumstances.
We enjoy arts and crafts, baking, drama, sports, music and Xbox!

Suicide Prevention Training
In response to feedback from carers, we’re offering a series of 4 free Suicide Prevention Training sessions.
These will be led by Mark Willis, former York Mind staff member and founder of Wider Sky, his own training business.
When: Tuesday 1 April , 6 – 8 pm
(Also Tuesday 8 April, Tuesday 15 April and Tuesday 22 April)
Where: Friends Meeting House, Friargate, York YO1 9RL.
We recommend attending all 4 sessions for maximum benefit.
Places are limited and available by booking only.

These groups are for anyone supporting someone with mental ill health. The groups provide a break from caring responsibilities and an opportunity to meet other local mental health carers.
Some meetings are led by guest speakers, others focus on giving each other support, encouragement and sharing coping strategies.
This group is run in partnership with Rethink Mental Illness York Group. There is no need to book, just drop-in. New members are always welcome.
Before each group, you will receive an email with information about the guest speaker and the planned activity.
When: Wednesday 9 April, 7 – 8.45pm

Our creative workshops are back! We’ll be using creative writing, art, music, and performance to explore feelings of grief and loss.
Matt from ‘Next Door But One’ theatre group will facilitate these sessions, and we welcome all experiences of loss – from bereavement to changes in identity, the loss of a relationship, a job, and everything in between.
Feel free to join us for one or all of the workshops, each has a unique theme. We will also be there for support.
“I feel lighter and because of the conversation in today’s group I am on a journey somewhere better. I don’t know how I’m going to get there but I will.”
