Family Support Worker

Salary: £24,982 to £26,511 per annum (NJC SCP 18-21)

37 hours per week including some evening and occasional weekend working

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a 3-year Lottery Funded Programme with York Carers Centre delivering whole family support where children and young adults care for a family member with complex needs.

The role requires an experienced, confident practitioner, preferably with a relevant qualification.  However, emphasis will be placed on your experience of delivering whole family interventions that improve family functioning and promote children’s positive mental health and emotional well-being.

Working collaboratively with York Carers Centre staff including a CBT Therapist, the Family Support Worker will support an allocated caseload of families, with regular reviews and assessment of progress.

The post holder will have a good understanding of the negative impact that inappropriate caring responsibilities may have on children and their development and be committed to York Carers Centre procedures for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and adults.

We offer a supportive working environment with learning and development opportunities, 29 days holiday per year plus public holidays and a contributory pension scheme.

The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
