DEPUTY CHIEF EXECUTIVE – 21 hours per week
Salary: £37,035 per annum pro rata

York Carers Centre is an independent charity that helps unpaid carers in York access the support they need.  We currently have an exciting opportunity for an individual with a genuine interest in carers to use their experience and skills to play a crucial role in our service and provide a strong backbone to our work by joining our leadership team to manage our daily operations and the charity’s HR functions.

This wide-ranging role will work closely with the CEO to set operational priorities for the team to support our key areas of work supporting carers. The post-holder will deputise for the CEO in her absence, supporting with the strategic leadership, operational management, and the efficient running of the charity ensuring all HR-related and other legal and statutory requirements are met. We are seeking a structured individual with strong planning skills, able to juggle multiple tasks, and who has a good all-round understanding of the range of processes and tasks involved in such a varied role.

The position requires a super organised, enthusiastic and experienced leader in operational and HR functions, who is committed to the needs of carers, with a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on management for a small organisation.  You will have prior experience of senior management within a charity or not-for-profit organisation supporting or connected with vulnerable clients.  An understanding of carers issues as well as previous experience of the development of frontline services and of people management will be required.

A key aspect of this role will be to work alongside the CEO and Finance Manager to take an active part in the continued development of York Carers Centre to maintain and develop effective working relationships with funders and other partners and contribute towards the growth of our small but ambitious charity.
