Support groups for carers
Would you like to meet other carers in similar situations?
Come to one of our friendly carer support groups. We have a number of welcoming groups depending on what your situation is. Some are specific to the condition of the person you are caring for, such as mental health or substance misuse, and some are hubs which are open to all carers. We often have guests from other organisations to talk about useful topics such as local mental health service updates, legal advice, accessing community care and more. These have been on Zoom during restrictions, and will be face to face again soon.
If you’re not sure if attending a group is right for you, or you’d like to know more about how it works, then please get in touch and our team will be happy to answer any questions and give you an idea of what’s involved.
Some of our regular groups are below:
- support group if you care for someone with mental ill health. There are two separate groups each month.
- support group if you are affected by someone else’s drinking or drug taking . Two separate groups a month, one group runs through the day and one in the evenings as we know that not all carers can may daytime groups.
- Carers Hubs throughout the city: Please see our calendar for the upcoming sessions.
We also run lots of activities that give you a chance to take a break and meet people who are also caring. You can find more details on our events calendar or in our newsletters.
